Former England batter and captain Kevin Pietersen, who is part of the Delhi Capitals support staff in IPL 2025, has left the franchise to take a short break. In a video posted by Pietersen on X on Sunday (April 6), he can be seen flying to the Maldives.
The legendary batter, who also played for DC and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, captioned the tweet, “Paradise loading in the Maldives. DND for a while!”

Pietersen joined the Delhi-based franchise as mentor ahead of the start of the ongoing 18th edition of the Indian Premier League. Under his guidance, DC have managed to win all three matches played so far, and with six points, Axar Patel’s men sit at the No. 1 position in the IPL 2025 points table.
The 2020 IPL losing finalists defeated Chennai Super Kings by 25 runs on Saturday (April 5), and Pietersen left the team’s camp post that game for a short break.
According to a report in Times of India, the 44-year-old former right-handed batter is set to miss DC’s fourth league stage match of IPL 2025 against RCB on April 10 in Bengaluru but will rejoin the camp ahead of the team’s first home match at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Delhi Capitals, after playing two home matches in Visakhapatnam, will face Mumbai Indians in Delhi on April 13.
Bumrah to play in Delhi
It has been reported that star Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who joined the Mumbai Indians IPL 2025 camp on Sunday (April 6) ahead of the team’s fifth league stage match against RCB, is all set to play in the DC-MI match on April 13. Bumrah, who is one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, last played a competitive match in the first week of January 2025.
He bowled in the first innings of the fifth Test against Australia, which was played at Sydney Cricket Ground, but didn’t come out to bowl in the second due to a lower back injury.
Bumrah, who won the ICC Cricketer and ICC Test Cricketer of the Year awards in 2024, was set to make his return during the Champions Trophy 2025 but was omitted from the final squad due to a lower back injury.
