Kieron Bowie gets Hibs backing for iconic Scotland role as fellow Euro hero insists he has the 'world at his feet'

Chris Cadden insists Kieron Bowie has the world at his feet - and expects he’ll soon have the Scotland number nine shirt on his back. The hitman was the Euro hero for Hibs as his wonderstrike halted Partizan Belgrade’s fightback before David Gray’s side edged through a sensational Euro Conference League qualifier in extra time on Thursday. Cadden ended a 16-month wait for a goal by striking what proved to be the winner over two legs. But it was Bowie’s outrageous 40-yard wonderstrike that breathed life into David Gray’s side - and had everyone talking afterwards. Scotland boss Steve Clarke was in the Main Stand to see the 22-year-old’s jaw-dropping hit with his own eyes. And having made his senior international debut against Liechtenstein back in June, Cadden reckons Bowie is primed to nail down the Scotland striker jersey for years to come. He said: “Aye, I do. I've actually said that to him as well, if he wants to do that. He’s got the world at his feet. He needs to keep grinding, keep working hard. “But he's a special, special player. Special kid as well. I'm absolutely buzzing for him. “He could go and be Scotland’s number nine, of course he can. He's that good. “I couldn't believe he actually shot for the goal, to be honest. It's a ridiculous finish. The big man was unbelievable. Over the two ties, he's been unplayable. “Kieron’s got a real bright future. We're really lucky to have him. It's been a hard work and effort. He's been through a bit of adversity and injury. “He didn't have his best start to his Hibs career, but it's been credit to himself. “He could be anything he wants to be.” Cadden’s strike in the 100th minute finally saw off plucky Partizan. It was only his third goal in the last three years - and first since April 2024. But he’s after more, starting with this afternoon’s Premier Sport Cup clash at Livingston. He said: “The gaffer's been talking to me about getting in the back post and taking my game to the next level. “I’ve had a couple of chances earlier in the season, so I've just been desperate to score. My eyes lit up when the ball broke on Thursday. “I’ve not scored a lot in my career, so that's probably the best to be honest, in terms of what it means and the opportunity in Europe. “I’ve waited a long time to play in Europe as well for Hibs. It's a special feeling. It's the best goal in terms of meaning for me.” Doing it with twin brother Nicky alongside only makes it even more memorable. Cadden said: “He was actually raging I run away from him for the celebration. “Winning games in Europe for Hibs is a special feeling, but then with your brother by your side, it's hard to describe, to be honest with you. It's a real proud moment for us. “It'd be amazing to now get to the group stage. I don't think a team at Hibs has done it before. It'd mean a lot. We feel that we can do it.” Before that it’s Livi and Cadden added: “At a club like this you want to try and win trophies. “Good teams go again. We want to play in Europe. I'm loving the Thursday-Sunday. It's brilliant. We've got good strength in depth to do that.”
