The brother of Fionan Mackessy, Donie has revealed what life is like for Fionan since the Kerry native swapped life in the Kingdom for Noreside. "The father's a Tipp man so he wouldn't be too proud," Donie joked, adding, "there's been good days out (following Fionan play) and plenty of pints after, so the craic is mighty." Asked if Fionan keeps him in the loop on Kilkenny GAA affairs, Donie replied: "Not much, I wouldn't ask him anyway, I leave him at it.
