Kim Kardashian is bringing her Skims brand to our high street. Set to debut summer 2025, it will open its first ever UK store in an iconic location. Co-founded by the reality TV star and businesswoman in 2019, the American shapewear and clothing company has since gone on to be worth a reported $4billion, as well as being included in Time's list of 100 influential companies. While it currently only operates in physical stores in the US, it is set to open its first ever UK flagship store by taking over a former Ted Baker unit that was located on London's popular Regent Street. It has been reported that the brand has signed a 10-year lease that will see it take over the 12,000sqft unit at 245-247 Regent Street next summer, although the official date has yet to be confirmed. The lease is said to have been signed with The Crown Estate, an independent commercial business that boasts a diverse portfolio of UK buildings, shoreline, seabed, forestry, agriculture and common land. The location the brand is set to take over has remained vacant ever since the collapse of Ted Baker after the Scots clothing brand fell into administration and closed down all its stores last year. While it will mark the first time that Kim's Skims brand has opened its first ever standalone UK store, it is currently stocked as an individual line at both Selfridges and Harrods. Chief executive and co-founder Jens Grede told The Times : "Launching a standalone Skims store on London’s Regent Street is a pivotal step in our global expansion. “This iconic location allows us to forge a deeper, more personal connection with our UK customers, delivering the full Skims experience in a world-class retail destination with authenticity and vision at the heart of our brand.” Founded alongside fellow entrepreneurs Jens and Emma Grede, Kim Kardashian's multi-billion dollar empire was first launched to promote body positivity in a range of sizes from XXS to 5XL, alongside being available in a diverse range of skin tones. Initially launched as an underwear line, it specialises in body-shaping bras, bodysuits and other shapewear items. Since then, the brand has expanded into offering lingerie, clothing , loungewear, swimwear and even a men's clothing line that was developed in 2023. The company has also established multiple partnerships with major companies, as it has previously provided Team USA athletes with athleisure equipment during the 2020 Tokyo summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, alongside the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. It has also previously partnered with luxury fashion house Fendi on a capsule collection of shapewear, leather dresses and swimsuits, with the line apparently generating millions of dollars within the first 10 minutes of its launch. Numerous celebrities are also said to be fans of the Kardashian-founded brand, with previous brand ambassadors including the likes of Paris Hilton, Usher, Sabrina Carpenter , Kate Moss and Nicola Coughlan. While it started as an online only business, it quickly garnered popularity, earning luxury American department store Nordstrom as its first retail partner, before opening pop-up stores in the likes of Paris and LA.
