KL Rahul Creates History, Becomes Fastest Batter To Score 5000 Runs In IPL

Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, and on Tuesday (April 22) he entered his name in the history books by becoming the fastest batter to score 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League. The 32-year-old right-handed batter from Bengaluru needed 51 runs in the ongoing match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, and he achieved the objective by taking a single on the third ball of the 18th over of the 160-run chase. Rahul, who joined DC for Rs 14 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, crossed the 5000-run mark in his 130th inning of the 139th IPL match. He broke former Australian opening batter David Warner’s record. During his playing days in the IPL, Warner crossed the 5000-run mark in his 135th inning.
