Tokyo Olympics sprinter Kristina Knott has a chance to gun for a gold medal in the 26th Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, after qualifying for the final of the women’s 200m last Friday.Knott, a two-time Southeast Asian Games medalist, clocked in 23.7 seconds to finish second in the heats.The 29-year-old Filipino-American sprinter is competing in the final at press time as she looks to redeem herself from her blunder in the women’s 100m last Tuesday.Knott was disqualified due to a false start.Also competing at press time is Ernest John Obiena, who guns for his third straight gold medal in the men’s pole vault.Also vying for a medal in the Asian Championships are Lauren Hoffman and defending champion Robyn Brown in the women’s 400-meter hurdles.Bernalyn Bejoy also hopes to take home a medal as she is trying her luck in the women’s 800m event final as of this writing.The Philippines looks to surpass its previous medal tally of two gold medals from the 2023 Asian Championships in Bangkok.
