He reached this landmark with his seventh run in the second T20I against Bangladesh at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. The other 448 runs have come in neutral games at an average of 29.86. Mendis's tally of 1,400-plus T20I runs as a keeper is the most for any SL batter.
