Leinster and Ireland No.10 breaks silence on his Premiership summer move

Ross Byrne has revealed his delight at signing for Gloucester for next season in a move that ends his long association with Leinster.
Ireland out-half Byrne, 29, made his Leinster debut in 2015 and has scored 1,156 points over the last decade for the province in 184 appearances.
However he has found himself down the pecking order this season, with Sam Prendergast getting the nod to start in the Champions Cup pool stages, while Ciarán Frawley and Ross' brother Harry - when he returns from a successful three month spell at Bristol Bears - are also competing for game time.
Byrne has only started four of 15 games for Leinster this term and has agreed to the move to play more regularly, with his Ireland career - revived in time for the last Rugby World Cup - back on ice again.
“I’m delighted to have signed with Gloucester Rugby for next season,” Byrne said. “The club’s exciting ambitions made it an opportunity I just couldn’t pass up.
“The team is producing a really great brand of rugby already, and that’s certainly something that drew me to Kingsholm. I’m hoping I can add to that and help the team grow further in the future.
“Having experienced the incredible atmosphere at Kingsholm before, I’m looking forward to getting out there in Cherry & White and challenging myself in one of the most competitive leagues in world rugby.”
Gloucester director of rugby George Skivington commented: “It’s rare to come across someone with so much domestic and international pedigree, and when they do become available, inevitably there’s a lot of interest in them, so it’s a real coup for us.
“Ross’s signing is a real statement of ambition, and we can’t wait for him to get started.”
