Marc Leishman is poised to contend for a first individual LIV Golf title after helping to put the all-Australian Ripper GC squad on top in the teams event at LIV Golf Miami.
Six-time PGA Tour winner Leishman shot a one-under 71 in difficult, windy conditions at Trump National Doral on Saturday to be sharing third place, two shots behind leader Bryson DeChambeau (70, 5 under) and one behind Sergio Garcia (71).
He was tied with Patrick Reed (75) and Phil Mickelson (73).
Fellow Australian Lucas Herbert posted the day's only score in the 60s with a 69 to be tied 11th at two over.
Of their Ripper GC teammates, Cameron Smith slipped to be tied 15th after a 74 as he tunes up for the Masters and Matt Jones had a 76 to be tied 29th at six over.
Ripper lead by two shots from Dustin Johnson's 4Aces GC.
Seeking his third LIV Golf individual title as he prepares for the Masters, US Open champion DeChambeau was relishing the tough conditions.
"I'm up for anything," DeChambeau said. "Whatever it brings me, I'm up for the challenge. It will be a great test tomorrow."
"What a test of golf out there," DeChambeau added "This golf course, every single angle just produced the most testing golf shots out there that I've seen in a long time."
The 2023 Masters champion, Jon Rahm, fired a 70 to get to one under for the tournament.
Johnson, the 2020 Masters champion, shot a 75 and was a stroke back in eighth place.
