Re: Albertans can start pre-ordering paid COVID-19 shots after June policy shift (August 12). Upon learning about this new payment option, a pressing question arises: Given that we were previously informed about the highly contagious nature of COVID-19, what happens if someone opts out of paying and consequently does not receive the vaccine? If this individual somehow contracts the virus, will they be at risk of rapidly spreading it to others? This scenario raises significant concerns about public health and safety. The decision to forgo vaccination not only puts the individual at risk but also endangers the broader community. Vaccines have been a critical tool in controlling the spread of COVID-19, and their widespread adoption has been instrumental in reducing transmission rates. Allowing individuals to bypass vaccination due to payment issues could potentially undermine these efforts and lead to new outbreaks. It is essential to consider the broader implications of such payment options. Ensuring that everyone has access to vaccines, regardless of their financial situation, is crucial for maintaining public health and preventing the spread of COVID-19. By prioritizing equitable access to vaccines, we can protect both individuals and the community at large.

Fentanyl fight
With China getting on the tariff bandwagon against Canada, maybe we should implement mandatory physical checking of every container entering our country from China. Just stemming the importing of fentanyl. That would stop their ships from entering our waters in a matter of days due to congestion. That may hurt their bottom line!

Still seething
I still seethe when I think of the tyranny and overreach the Trudeau government invoked during COVID. Among other things, to me one of the most egregious restrictions was when people were denied the right to visit sick or dying loved ones. I can tell you definitively that there is no way in hell they would have been able to keep me from being physically present to comfort a loved one in such a situation. I feel bad for anyone who was affected by such a cruel and unnecessary restriction.
