This year, the Ligaya ng Panginoon, or LNP, marks a glorious milestone of 50 years of covenant fidelity, community life, and mission. From its spark in 1975 to a vibrant network of families, couples, and ministries today, the golden jubilee beckons us to rejoice in God’s enduring presence.What began as a modest weekly prayer meeting at Assumption Convent in Makati — fueled by the baptism of the Holy Spirit — transformed into a weekend retreat at Ateneo’s East Asian Pastoral Institute with 41 pioneers, eager for God’s face. That weekend culminated in a prophetic decree: “You are my joy… you will proclaim my name… throughout Asia.” This prophetic spark birthed a family-based covenant community rooted in charismatic spirituality, discipleship and mission — under the umbrella of the Sword of the Spirit and the Christ the King Association.Over five decades, LNP has steadily embraced pastoral and evangelistic outreach — serving the poor, nurturing vocations, supporting families and planting other ministries. Notably, it gave rise to Couples for Christ in 1981, a global lay movement anchored in marriage evangelization and the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen & Professionals or BCBP in 1980, a body of Christian men and women whose upbringing, education, training, and life situation placed them in the midst of the marketplace. Today, LNP continues to foster Christ‑centered servant leaders and ministries like Christ’s Youth in Action (CYA), Lingkod ng Panginoon, Tahanan ng Panginoon, and Word of Joy Foundation — all part of its Partner in Mission network.The theme this year is “More Joy” — the final stage of a three‑year spiritual journey that began with “More Power” (2022), “More Love” (2023), and “More Reach” (2024). It’s a profound reminder: our joy transcends circumstance, anchored in unwavering faithfulness and hope for the future.Highlights of the celebration include the LNP Golden Jubilee Golf Cup held on 16 June; a fundraising event to support the different LNP missions where my wife and I were part of the organizing team; and the Octave of Jubilee on 13-20 July, a week-long celebration beginning with a Solemn Assembly at World Trade Center Pasay, followed by a Homecoming Retreat, Lord’s Day Celebration, and Gala Reception. These events are moments of communal grace: of worship, Mass, prophetic words, renewed covenant and joyful fellowship. Fifty years bring gratitude — and a vision for the future. As disciples on a mission, LNP remains committed to spiritual formation, relationship-building, hospitality, and evangelization. With “More Joy” as our guiding note, we step forward in hope, trusting that God — unchanging yesterday, today and forever — will lead us into “more” in the years ahead.To be part of this covenanted community — especially alongside your wife — is to live a shared journey of faith, service, and intimate encounter with God. The golden jubilee is not just a celebration of history, but a recommitment to love one another, worship deeply, reach the marginalized, and remain open to the Spirit’s leading.I congratulate our LNP family and hope for this 50th Anniversary to be a time of abundant joy, renewed vows, and fresh courage for the mission ahead.
