Liverpool news: Arne Slot drops transfer hint as guard of honour decision made
@Source: mirror.co.uk
Liverpool are set to be greeted by a guard of honour by Chelsea players at Stamford Bridge this afternoon as Arne Slot's champions look to enjoy the final weeks of their successful campaign. But thoughts are already turning to the summer transfer window with fresh talk around a move for a proven goalscorer while Darwin Nunez is widely expected to depart amid interest from Atletico Madrid. Here are the big stories from in and around Anfield with the mood still high. Arne Slot believes Liverpool’s title celebrations will attract top players and also inspire their current squad to repeat their success next season. The Reds head coach is confident they have the ‘perfect package’ at the club after winning a 20th English league crown. The scenes last week of jubilation around Anfield and beyond on Merseyside will only add to the hunger among the team to experience it again. Slot said: “It's also a perfect package to stay motivated ourselves, because to experience this once is really nice, but we would love to experience it one more time. Arne Slot toasted Liverpool’s title success at Anfield on Sunday, celebrated his wife’s birthday on Monday but by Tuesday was already back to football. The Reds head coach allowed himself a couple of days to soak in the remarkable success of leading the club to the Premier League in his first season at the club. “Monday was my wife's birthday, so she was here together with the children and some friends, so we had lunch together,” Slot said. “Tuesday they left, so Tuesday was, I would almost say, going back to normal. I don't know what it was, Tuesday actually. Oh, yeah, I picked up my car, I left my car at Anfield. And Wednesday we trained. " Chelsea welcome Liverpool on Sunday with the Reds playing for the first time since they were crowned champions. Their 5-1 win over Tottenham sealed the Premier League title - which had been a long time coming. Arne Slot's side have set the pace for much of their campaign and their consistency had seen them open up a comfortable lead. In recent weeks it had become a case of when - not if - they would officially be crowned. Liverpool can now enjoy the final weeks of the season. They'll get to play several matches whilst boasting their champion status and, if Premier League tradition is anything to go by, they'll be receiving some well earned recognition along the way. And Enzo Maresca's side will be expected to give them a guard of honour on Sunday afternoon. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
