Premier League champions Liverpool are reportedly pursuing a bold step to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, with a two-man swap deal proposed to bring the prolific Nigerian to Merseyside. According to TEAMtalk and Italian journalist Valter De Maggio, Liverpool have tabled an offer that would see Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa move to Napoli in exchange for Osimhen, who is valued at €70 million and has a release clause to match. Despite already spending over £200 million this summer, including signing Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, and goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvili and Armin Pecsi, Reds manager Arne Slot remains determined to add a prolific striker to his squad. The striking position is considered Liverpool’s final piece of the puzzle heading into the new season, and Osimhen is viewed as the ideal target. Osimhen, a 26-year-old Super Eagles striker, reignited his reputation as one of Europe’s elite forwards during a loan spell at Galatasaray in 2024/25, netting 37 goals and 8 assists in 41 matches across all competitions. With just a year left on his Napoli contract and Antonio Conte signalling a shift away from the Osimhen era, the striker is expected to be sold this summer. Liverpool, fresh off a dominant title-winning campaign under Slot, finishing 10 points clear at the top, are eager to maintain momentum. Slot is reshaping the squad and believes the arrival of Osimhen could be a transformative figure in Liverpool’s attack.
