Diogo Jota will officially be the last player to ever wear the No. 20 for Liverpool. On Friday, the defending English Premier League champions announced that they will retire the number of the Portuguese center-forward after he tragically passed away last week. The decision will apply to all levels of the organization on both the men’s and women’s side. Jota was tragically killed in a one-car accident with his younger brother, Andre, in a one-car wreck in Spain. To make things even more heartbreaking, the older of the Jota brothers had gotten married just 11 days before his death. He was only 28 years old and left behind three children. Players in the Club World Cup have paid tribute to him, often before matches began. As a member of Liverpool, Jota won an EPL title, an FA Cup, and two English League Cup Titles. Across five seasons with the Reds, he scored 65 goals in 182 appearances.
