Liverpool suffer fresh injury blow ahead of Aston Villa clash
@Source: birminghammail.co.uk
Liverpool head to Aston Villa on Wednesday for their rescheduled Premier League clash as they look to keep Arsenal at an arm's length in the title race - and in doing so they'll be without one of their defenders. During the recent FA Cup tie at Championship Plymouth Argyle, who knocked the Reds out of the competition after Ryan Hardie's penalty proved enough to separate the teams, Liverpool lost the versatile Joe Gomez to injury. It has emerged that Gomez, who has had plenty of injury setbacks to contend with in his years at Liverpool, pulled up with a hamstring injury at Home Park and, after treatment on the pitch, he was forced off within just 11 minutes of kick off. The Reds will also be without youngster Tyler Morton, who has collected a shoulder injury, but they are otherwise at this moment in good shape availability wise ahead of their clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield this weekend. They will be without midfielder Curtis Jones against Wolves after he was sent off in the 2-2 draw against Everton, but he'll only serve a one-match ban and will return at Villa Park on Wednesday. Villa, of course, aren't without their own injury issues in the back-line; Tyrone Mings and Pau Torres are both sidelined, while Ezri Konsa was forced off too in Sunday's FA Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur and that left Lamare Bogarde and Boubacar Kamara at the heart of the defence. January transfer deadline day signing Axel Disasi, who was ineligible to face Spurs in the cup, could make his Villa debut against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
