Liverpool transfer news: Darwin Nunez 'set for exit' as Reds enter Rayan Cherki race
@Source: mirror.co.uk
Liverpool are set for a busy summer in the transfer market as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season's Premier League title defence. The Reds made just one signing last summer, with Federico Chiesa joining from Juventus in a cut-price deal. However, the winger has made just four starts across all competitions due to fitness issues. Liverpool are set to welcome goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili to Anfield after agreeing a deal to sign him from Valencia last summer, while Jeremie Frimpong is on the verge of completing a move from Bayer Leverkusen. Frimpong is set to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold , who is expected to join Real Madrid after announcing he will be leaving Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season, and plenty more incomings and outgoings are expected. Here, Mirror Football takes a look at some of the latest transfer news and rumours coming out of Anfield... According to Cadena SER , Darwin Nunez is keen on a move to Atletico Madrid this summer after falling down the pecking order at Liverpool. The report claims that Nunez has 'made it clear' that he wants to join Atletico and that he has already agreed terms with the LaLiga club. However, Atletico are yet to agree a deal with Liverpool. It is claimed that Atletico are confident Nunez can get back to his best in Spain and thrive alongside former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez, who has scored 29 goals in all competitions since joining the club last summer. According to reports in France , Liverpool are among a host of clubs who are eyeing a move for Lyon winger Rayan Cherki this summer. Cherki is understood to have a €22.5million (£19m) release clause in his contract and it is claimed that Liverpool, Manchester United , Manchester City , Tottenham , Aston Villa , Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are all weighing up a summer swoop for the 21-year-old. And Cherki has already hinted that he may be on the move with comments he made after Lyon's final league game of the season. He said: "Thanks to OL, the coach, the staff, the president, my teammates and all people at the club." Brentford boss Thomas Frank has once again refused to rule out selling Bryan Mbeumo this summer, with Liverpool among the clubs reportedly interested in the forward. "Let's see," Frank told Sky Sports when asked if Mbeumo will still be at the club next season. "We all love him. I watch him every day, he comes in with a big smile, trains with a big smile. He loves to be a Brentford player but let's see. He's been fantastic. "For me, it's been a privilege to work with him for six years and see his development from a teenager, I think he was 19 when he came or a young man, to a more grown-up man in many ways. And that personal development I think is equally as important." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
