Liverpool transfer news: Mohamed Salah 'interested' as Prem rivals swoop with £50m offer
@Source: dailystar.co.uk
Liverpool may be sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League but Arne Slot won't be resting on his laurels. English football's most successful team are heading towards a record-equalling 20th league title . They sit nine points ahead of Arsenal , with a game in the hand - the Merseyside derby against Everton . It isn't over yet, but Slot's side are strong favourites going into the final stretch. And no Liverpool fan will take it for granted if the Reds do end up back on their perch come May. But football never stops and Liverpool are already making plans for next season - both in terms of signings and departures - with the future of three biggest stars uncertain . Here's all the latest transfer news from Anfield. The future of the Premier League's top forward Mohamed Salah remains unclear, with the 'Egyptian King' able to leave on a free transfer in June. The clock is ticking on the Liverpool legend's time at Anfield and Saudi Pro League clubs are reportedly "confident" that the 32-year-old is still considering joining one of them this summer. His 27 goals so far this season mark his best return in the Premier League since scoring 32 in his debut campaign in 2017-18. But Liverpool still haven’t moved to tie down Salah to a new contract . It’s said that an offer is on the table for Salah to extend his spell at Anfield but lines of communication still remain open with the Saudi Pro League. According to the Telegraph , one senior source insists that Salah “remains interested” in the Saudi project. While it’s said that Salah is prioritising hearing Liverpool’s offer, the source still believes Salah will be signed up in the summer when his contract expires. Newcastle forward Alexander Isak has been repeatedly linked with a move to Anfield, given his prolific form and the possible impending departure of the Reds' chief goal-getter Salah. But there's also been talk of players moving in the opposite direction. First young defender Jarrell Quansah was rumoured to be a key target for the Magpies. And now Eddie Howe's side are said to be weighing up a move for another youngster - attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes , Newcastle 'have submitted a £50m offer' for the 21-year-old. Elliott is a boyhood Liverpool fan and has made a big impact off the bench in recent weeks, but for much of the season has been something of a peripheral figure under Slot. The report suggests Newcastle's offer "could be hard to refuse" and that the young England star's future will be decided "in the coming weeks". Dutch ace Xavi Simons has been linked numerous times to Liverpool. The 21-year-old Netherlands international was formerly on loan from Paris Saint-Germain at RB Leipzig, before the German side completed a permanent deal in the winter. However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano says Leipzig feel the attacking midfielder could be ready for a new challenge by the time the current campaign ends, which will be the end of his second term with them. Premier League clubs may have to match his £62m asking price and clubs named as interested include the Reds, along with title rivals Arsenal and fallen giants Manchester United. Midfield whizz-kid Kieran Morrison might also be packing his bags this summer, as the 18-year-old is admired both domestically and abroad. The Liverpool academy standout, who joined the club from Manchester United at U14s level, put pen to paper on his first professional contract in April 2024. The teen, who can play through the middle or out on the wing, has since has become a key player for the U21s. His impressive development earned him a place on the bench in the Champions League dead-rubber defeat to PSV Eindhoven in January. But he is entering the final year of his current deal and there is said to be interest in acquiring his services from both clubs in the Championship and in Germany. Another player whose contract has dominated the news agenda of late is of course Trent Alexander-Arnold. Liverpool's homegrown vice-captain is said to be prepared to turn his back on the club and leave for Real Madrid on a free transfer. Now reports in Romania claim the Reds are eyeing up Rayo Vallecano right-back Andrei Ratiu as a potential summer transfer, as they consider whether to take advantage of a reported release clause of around £21m. According to Romanian outlet Pro Sport , Liverpool are one of the teams monitoring the player. However, Villarreal are reported to have a £5.85m buyback option, after selling him in 2023.
