Liverpool transfer news: Rodrygo on Reds' radar as Luiz Diaz 'wants clause in contract'
@Source: dailystar.co.uk
Liverpool have been leading the charge in this summer's transfer window as they look to build from a position of strength. Arne Slot is welcoming back his squad for pre-season, bolstered by fresh faces like Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong. Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are among the early birds as England's most successful football club gear up to defend their Premier League crown. Despite already making some big moves, the Reds continue to be linked with high-profile deals across the board. The Merseyside outfit remain interested in signing Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi amid doubts over Ibrahima Konate's future, following Jarell Quansah's departure. Luis Diaz's fate also seems to hang in the balance with ongoing whispers about his exit, reports the Mirror . First up, Liverpool will gear up for their inaugural friendly of the summer. However, it carries a deeper significance as it marks the club's first match since the heartbreaking loss of Diogo Jota. Here's all the latest transfer news from Anfield. At present, Newcastle haven't come back for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, leaving Liverpool as front-runners for his services. The Chronicle suggests the Magpies are keeping tabs on Guehi's circumstances from a distance after failing to secure the defender last summer. The Reds haven't dismissed the idea of returning to negotiations, but for now, they seem to have a clear path. However, there's some worry over the fee Palace may expect for Guehi, despite his contract running out in a year. Liverpool are eager to sign a younger centre-back than Virgil van Dijk and Konate, with the latter also nearing the end of his contract. Luis Diaz has requested that Barcelona include a clause in any potential contract that would kick in if the club fails to register him. Last season, the Catalan giants couldn't register Dani Olmo in time for the season opener due to falling foul of La Liga's financial regulations. Liverpool reportedly aren't keen on letting their Colombian star leave, but Barca remain admirers of Diaz after missing out on Nico Williams earlier this month. It's said they're working with the player's agent to reach an agreement. Diaz, 28, is contracted until 2027 and has consistently been linked with Barcelona over the past year. Sporting director Deco rates the forward highly and is now dealing with Diaz's demands for compensation if he can't be registered, should a transfer go through. Real Madrid's Rodrygo has emerged as a potential target for Liverpool if Diaz departs this summer. The Brazilian winger has yet to win over new manager Xabi Alonso, struggling to make an impact in the Club World Cup . Rodrygo was an unused substitute as Real Madrid were thrashed by Paris Saint-Germain, but Alonso insisted the decision was purely tactical. He said: "I didn't play Rodrygo for a technical decision. We thought we would be better off with other players. It's not about his future." According to reports, Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Rodrygo's situation, with the 24-year-old said to be favouring a move to the Premier League, as stated by Sky Sports.
