‘Long may it continue’ – Inside Barry Ferguson’s first training session as Rangers boss as Gers fans spot the same thing

BARRY FERGUSON has only had one training session since taking over at Rangers. But Light Blues fans already think they've spotted a big change at Auchenhowie. It's been a whirlwind few days at Rangers. Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to St Mirren proved the final straw for club chiefs, who dramatically sacked Philippe Clement as manager on Sunday. That decision came just a few days after chief executive Patrick Stewart had once again publicly backed Clement to continue in the role, even if it wasn't quite a ringing endorsement. But Saturday's horror show against the Buddies saw the club pull the trigger on the Belgian boss on Sunday. The drama didn't stop there with former Gers captain Barry Ferguson making a remarkable return to the club on Monday. The 47-year old, who has been out of coaching for three years, was appointed head coach until the end of the season. Ferguson heads-up a coaching team containing three Rangers legends, with Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor forming his backroom staff alongside Issame Charai, the only remaining first team coach from Clement's era. Time is of the essence for Ferguson and his new coaching team with just ONE training session to prepare for Wednesday's clash with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. The new boss and his staff got to work with the players on the training ground on Tuesday. Rangers have shared an insight into the session, with a video posted on social media giving fans an inside look at what was going on. The 12-minute clip shows Ferguson watching on, with all of his new coaches taking on a part in the session. Dodds and McCann, in particular, look like they took a central role. Many Rangers fans watching the video have noticed the same thing. They reckon that the players already look HAPPIER than they did before. One Gers fan said: "First presser and training session I've watched in months, definitely a wee buzz back." A second post said: "Long may it continue." Another comment said: "The team actually look happy now." While a third post read: "Think I'm falling in love with my club again. I needed to see this." Another comment said: "Shackles look off for some of the players now. They looked unhappy, training looked a happier place to be!" While another fan added: "Turn the positive vibes into wins and goals." Another post said: "The lads look happy again." Many Gers fans also commented on the fact that former Ibrox striker Dodds was taking a leading role in the session. The former striker was seen being particularly vocal and leading on activation drills. One fan said: "Liked how Billy Dodds had a big voice in the session." Another posted: "Impressed with Billy Dodds there." While a further comment read: "Billy Dodds was brilliant in that." A further post said: "Looks like Billy Dodds playing the biggest part in taking the training." Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
