The Love Island villa has welcomed twelve new hopefuls looking for love this summer, with Maya Jama back at the helm of the hit show. However, a fresh twist in the launch episode had the Islanders in a spin before they could even lock eyes. As the series got underway, the girls were the first to step into the villa, arriving in pairs and full of anticipation about who they might click with this summer. But, in a departure from the usual coupling up, Maya dropped the bombshell of a huge twist. Instead of stepping forward for their preferred guy, the girls were presented with six oversized red hearts, each displaying a brief dating profile from the boys, revealing just their name, age, height, job, and a flirty one-liner. The ladies were then tasked with choosing their partner solely based on these snippets. One profile boasted: "I like to play hard and work harder!" while another enticed with: "I've got good chat, good vibes, and great teeth." After a flurry of deliberation, Maya gave the countdown, and the girls dashed towards the heart that captured their fancy. Shortly after, the boys made their entrance one by one, eager to see which girl had picked them in this blind selection process, reports the Mirror. Here's the Love Island 2025 couples so far... Shakira and Ben Shakira is a 22-year-old marketing professional from Burnley. Before entering the villa, Shakira confessed that her love life has been "booming" but not with Prince Charmings. "They’re all frogs," she told ITV. Gloucester-based Ben, 23, said he is hoping to find "someone sexy, good looking, good chat, good vibes, nice teeth and good eye contact" in the villa. He is a private hire taxi driver, who claims he has been "bankrupt" in the love department for a while, but hopes to strike gold in Mallorca. However, when new bombshell Toni entered the villa at the end of the episode, she chose to couple up with Ben, leaving Shakira single. Shakira was then told by Maya that she has 24 hours to save her place in the villa, by trying to couple up with another boy. While she can't steal Ben back from Toni, she is allowed to steal any of the other boys from the other girls. However, the person Shakira choses has to agree to pair up with her and leave their current partner. Meg and Dejon Meg, 25, is a payroll specialist from Southampton. If her love life was a business, she claims it would be bankrupt, but fingers crossed she'll make sales in the villa. Personal trainer and semi-pro footballer Dejon, 26, is from London. His claim to fame is he has met all kinds of celebrities through his ex-footballer dad, Gifton Noel-Williams. He even brushed shoulders with footie legend David Beckham, who Dejon describes as "really nice." In the villa, Dejon said he will be looking for "someone who is beautiful on the inside and out, looks after themselves and is healthy." Sophie and Harry Sophie, 29, is a motivational speaker and author from Manchester. She previously worked as a firebreather, before suffering horrific burns in a brutal accident. She has been candid about her recovery journey, sharing it with fans on social media. As for the kind of partner she is after, Sophie said she wants "someone who is fun, spontaneous, who has a lot of jokes and who is attentive." Semi-pro footballer and model Harry, 30, from Guildford. If the sportsman looks familiar, it could be because of his famous shoulders. "I’m the body double for Declan Rice," he revealed. This means whenever the Arsenal player has a photoshoot, any up close pictures might actually be Harry. "You’ll never see my face, but you’ll see my shoulder or chest, that kind of thing," he added. Harry is also a gold trader and hopes to couple up with someone who "makes me laugh and can hold eye contact with me. I don’t think I’d go for the most obvious girl, I like a real sweet girl." Helena and Conor Cabin crew member Helena, 29, said her dating history proves she "clearly goes for personality." When asked what type of islander she is likely to couple up with, the London-based star revealed: "Somebody funny or Northern. "I feel like Northern people have much more banter than Southerners. If you look through my previous dating history, you’ll see I clearly go for personality. You can pretty much laugh me into bed." Pro rugby player Conor, 25, said he likes "dark eyes" and "doesn't mind a dominant woman". Sharing his approach to flirting, Conor, who describes himself as the "class clown", shared: "I ask girls if they want to go halves on a baby. "It doesn’t work, but it gets them laughing. It’s an ice-breaker, not a serious question of course!" Alima and Blu Alima is a 23-year-old wealth management executive from Glasgow who said her type on paper is "a tall man with a handsome face. You know when you just look at a guy and they have that Disney prince look to them? That’s it." Another Londoner joining the cast, Blu is a 26-year-old construction project manager. While he doesn't think his flirting skills are up to par with the villa, Blue claims he's "got the charm to smooth things over with a girl." He is also fluent in Spanish. As for his perfect partner, the project manager said he is after "someone who is family oriented, has a lot of love to give and a lot of love to receive. Personality goes a long way." Megan and Tommy Before entering the show, Megan from Dublin described her perfect partner as "someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously and has a sense of humour. "If they’re not bad looking, that’s always a plus. I love a boy that’s a bit pasty, like Timothée Chalamet. I don’t mind scrawny, or a bit of a ‘dad bod’. I’m 5ft1 so any height really." Landscape gardener Tommy is 22 and from Hertfordshire. He is among the youngest on the line-up, but it seems like he will fit right in. When it comes to his ideal partner, Tommy said he is after "a girl who is very ambitious, with a big personality, caring, but also someone that doesn’t take themselves too seriously."
