@Source: news.com.au
The USA Power Lotto jackpot has reached a staggering A$598 million, while the USA Mega Lotto jackpot hit A$438 million after both were not won this week. The USA Power Lotto is directly matched to the US Powerball, while the USA Mega Lotto is directly matched to the US Mega Millions. Jaclyn Wood, the CEO of The Lottery Office, said that if an Australian player were to win, the outcome would be life-changing. “Winning either of these jackpots would be an amazing, life changing experience and I’m crossing my fingers an Aussie is lucky enough to pick the winning numbers,’’ she said. A number of Aussies had come narrowly close to winning recently, within just one number of clinching major jackpots, and it was only a matter of time until an Aussie claimed the big prize, Ms Wood added. Some Australian players are luckier than others, and new postcode data has revealed who’s buying tickets to get closer to the mega prize. According to the US Mega & US Power lotteries, the top Aussie postcodes with the biggest winning entries last year were: 1. Bentleigh, Victoria 2. Goonellabah, NSW 3. Ultimo, NSW 4. Bellfield, Victoria 5. Lake Albert, NSW The biggest wins by state were in Victoria, NSW and then Tasmania. The Lottery Office also revealed the luckiest “main” numbers drawn in the USA Power Lotto throughout last year, with the “lucky” number 33 drawn 20 times. It was followed by 27, 31, 44, 45, and 69 (drawn 17 times) and 9, 43 and 67, (drawn 16 times). The “unluckiest” numbers, drawn 12 times were: 11, 23, 29, 36, 40, 53, 54 and 58. The luckiest “power” (powerball) number in 2024 was 21, which was drawn 13 times. It was followed by 9, (drawn 11 times) and 15, 16 and 20 (drawn eight times). Meanwhile, the “unluckiest numbers”, drawn two times were: 11, 18 and 24. In November last year, a Victorian man won A$950,000 after coming within one number of winning the USA Mega Lotto jackpot. “We are Australia’s ticket to the world’s largest official lotteries,’’ Ms Wood said. “When our customers win, we pay them the exact amount of the winnings we collect from the overseas lottery ticket.’’ “The Lottery Office is 100 per cent Australian-owned and operated. We are passionate about enabling Australians to benefit from international lotteries, as those draws are often significantly larger on average than what you will find in other Australian lotteries,’’ Ms Wood said. Locally, the record lottery prize in Australia was a $200 million Powerball win in February 2024. According to The Lott, the Aussie hotspots that had racked up the most division one lottery wins include players in Victoria, which had the most division one wins in 2024 with 135. It was followed by NSW which enjoyed the most division one prize money totalling $521.3 million.
