After a series of trial games that was completed last Saturday with a 36-5 win over Pukekohe High School’s 1st XV rugby team, a very strong 1st XV Macleans College side has been named for the 2025 season.
Jacob Ely returns to captain the squad for the second year along with a number of experienced players who were part of the team that narrowly lost the 1B final in 2024.
The school says they’ve been joined by an exciting group of younger players to form a team that’s sure to be competitive in the 1B competition again this year.
Their first game is at 12pm this Saturday, April 12, when they host the visiting Farrer Agricultural High School from New South Wales, Australia, on the Macleans’ artificial turf.
Point scorers for Macleans College in the win over Pukekohe: Tries: Jacob Ely (2), Asher Langley (2), Arno Vosloo, Jackson Steele. Conversions: Jackson Steele (3).
