A man who was arrested after Donald Trump 's Turnberry golf resort was daubed in red paint has been released pending further inquiries. Pro-Palestine scrawls and slogans were etched across the facility near Girvan, in South Ayrshire , overnight on Saturday. As well as having red paint splattered across the front of the four-star resort, "Gaza is not 4 sale" was also sprayed across one of the greens. Police investigating the incident said a 33-year-old man had been arrested under suspicion of damaging the course and premises. Officers have now confirmed that he has been released while an investigation takes place. Pictures from the scene showed the white clubhouse covered in slashes of red paint and the golfing green hacked. Palestine Action, which took responsibility for the attack, said the move was a “direct response to the US administration’s stated intent to ethnically cleanse Gaza". Mr Trump’s recent comments include plans to “ clean out the whole thing ”. An AI-generated video shared by the President, showed Gaza transformed into a "Middle Eastern paradise". The video depicted beaches, skyscrapers and yachts, and featured an AI generated Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sipping cocktails by a pool. Mr Trump sent a message to the two million population on his Truth Social platform, writing : “To the People of Gaza: A beautiful Future awaits, but not if you hold Hostages. If you do , you are dead”. The Trump administration recently signed off on the shipment of 40,000 bombs to Israel. A spokesperson from Palestine Action said in a release from the group: “Palestine Action rejects Donald Trump’s treatment of Gaza as though it were his property to dispose of as he likes. To make that clear, we have shown him that his own property is not safe from acts of resistance. We will continue to take action against US-Israeli colonialism in the Palestinian homeland.” A spokesman for Trump Turnberry said: “This was a childish, criminal act but the incredible team at Trump Turnberry will ensure it does not impact business. Turnberry is a national treasure and will continue to be the number one beacon of luxury and excellence in the world of golf.” A statement from Police Scotland released earlier read: "A 33-year-old man has today been arrested in connection with damage caused to a golf course and premises on Maidens Road, Turnberry. The incident was reported to police around 4.40am on Saturday, 8 March, 2025. Inquiries remain ongoing."
