Man charged over Waterford e-scooter crash that killed two teenagers

The two teens died after being involved in a collision with a bus and the e-scooter they were on, which occurred shortly before 2.10am on Thursday, June 27, 2024, on the R680 Cork Road in Waterford city.
Gilbert Collins, 15, died at the scene while his 17-year-old friend Avu Idris, who was on Waterford’s Villa FC U-17 squad, died at University Hospital Waterford later on that day.
The teenagers, who played with local soccer clubs in Waterford, were killed while on their way back from a 24-hour gym at the time.
