@Source: dailyrecord.co.uk
A British man who now lives in Spain has said tourists in Benidorm are being robbed, and moved to advise how people can avoid falling victim to the crime. Harry Poulton, who has made Spain his home , says there is a lack of discussion surrounding the issue, and said con artists are preying on unsuspecting tourists by the roadside. Harry told his many social media fans: "If you're renting a car, if you're driving to Spain on the motorways - do not pull over. Not for someone that is on the side of the motorway with their hazards on trying to flag you down. "There are sign posts in Spain at the moment, all the way from Barcelona up to Valencia up to Alicante. Saying 'be warned, highway robberies.' "People are being flagged down, there is normally two people in these cars, one will try and ask for help while the other one distracts you. They then rob all of your valuables out of your car. "Now this scam is happening all the time in Spain and in parts of France. But no one seems to be speaking about it. Has anything like this ever happened to you before? This is a warning." Poulton stressed the risks involved in stopping for strangers: "It is not worth it. Do not pull over. You might be doing a good favour, you might be thinking you're helping someone out. But next thing you know you could have all of your valuables stolen." With a following of 45,600 on social media, Harry frequently offers advice to travellers. This recent video has amassed 12,500 views and sparked numerous comments. One viewer, Conor, expressed his gratitude, saying: "Thank you for letting us know." Tim said: "Literally saw this today just north of Altea, a man frantically waving to stop traffic while pointing at vehicles parked behind a lorry, road pirates." Another user shared a personal anecdote with a hint of irony, saying: "I am Egyptian - my mom got robbed in Barcelona and never in Egypt!". Ryan added: "I'd drive straight past like I don't hear beeping bye".
