Hyderabad: A 32-year-old man died of a heart attack while playing cricket at a private ground in Rampally Dayara on Sunday morning, Keesara police said. Police booked a case of death under suspicious circumstances and began investigations.Praneeth, a resident of Old Bowenpally, had gone with his friends to play cricket at around 7.30 am. While on the field, he collapsed and lost consciousness. His friends rushed him to a hospital by ambulance where doctors declared Praneeth dead.218 Caught for Drunk Driving Over Weekend in CyberabadHyderabad: The Cyberabad traffic police said they had apprehended 218 persons for drunk driving over the weekend. They included 176 two-wheeler riders, 19 driving three-wheelers, and 23 four-wheelers. Among them, 10 drivers had breathalyzer readings of 301 to 500 micrograms of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. All the accused will be produced before a court for sentencing.Cops nab Mumbai man for fishy account Hyderabad: The Hyderabad cybercrime police on Sunday arrested 22-year-old Mumbai resident Rashmit Rajendra Patil for allegedly acting as an account supplier in a Rs.2.44 crore investment fraud. He was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by a 56-year-old city resident.Police said Patil lured the victim to download certain applications and start investing. The victim initially invested small amounts in different bank accounts provided in the app, and he was shown some profit every day. He was told he could transfer the profit into this personal bank account and he could withdraw it after paying a small fee.In installments, he invested Rs.2,43,95,000 after which the scamsters stopped responding.During the investigation, the police found that the accused would reach out to the targets on social messaging platforms, offer double or triple profits in a short period, collect money and disappear.Woman kills daughter, bid to die by suicideHyderabad: A 33-year-old woman allegedly killed her daughter and tried to die by suicide, in Pragathinagar on Friday evening. While Namburin Krishna Pavani in the ICU of a private hospital, her daughter died on Saturday night at another hospital.After the murder-suicide attempt, Pavani called her husband Sambasiva Rao and informed him of what had happened. He shifted the mother and daughter to a private hospital in KPHB. Bachupally inspector J. Upender Rao said police had booked Pavani for murder.3 persons convicted for 2019 assault Hyderabad: Judge Sree Devi of the Special Judicial First Class Magistrate (JFCM) Excise Court at Nampally convicted three persons in connection with a 2019 assault involving office-bearers of the Hyderabad Memon community. Mohd Raoof, Mohd Javeed, and Mohd Sarfaraaz were sentenced to pay a fine of ₹10,000 each, and undergo 18 months of imprisonment if they fail to do so.The incident took place in November 2019 at the Memon Complex in Tadban during a fight between the current office bearers and the trio which was allegedly distributing haleem packets reportedly without the community’s approval.The accused, said to be supporters of former president Mohd Ashraf Patel, clashed with the office-bearers including then vice-president Mohd Abdul Ghani and second vice-president Shoaib Shafla. During investigations, police found that the trio had been creating trouble after losing the community elections. The former president, who allegedly instigated the attack, was also involved but got anticipatory bail.The case was prosecuted by additional public prosecutor Anitha Deshmukh.Man murdered by his rival at NagoleHyderabad: A 24-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his rival at Nagole crossroads at around 2 am on Saturday. Chaitanyapuri inspector Venkateshwar Rao identified the deceased as Manoj, 24 and the prime accused as Sanjay, who was accompanied by three associates.Police said Manoj was having dinner with his friend when Sanjay and his gang stabbed him from behind. When Manoj’s friend tried to stop him, the gang attacked him too. Locals called the police.According to Manoj’s family, he was previously accused of attempting to murder Sanjay; during a wedding in 2023, Manoj had stabbed Sanjay during an argument. Sanjay allegedly orchestrated the murder as revenge.2 Techies killed on ORR exit no.4AHyderabad: Two IT professionals died in a road accident at ORR Exit No. 4A in Mallampet in Dundigal in the early hours of Saturday. Bhanu Prakash, 36, and his friend Nalinikanta Biswal, 37, residents of Manchirevula in Rajendranagar, were driving from Medchal towards Patancheru when the mishap occurred.The vehicle lost control near Exit 4A at Mallampet and crashed into the road divider. The impact was severe, resulting in the death of the two on the spot, police said.Bhanu Prakash’s wife, Sai Lakshmi, lodged a complaint with the police following the incident. The Dundigal police registered a case and began investigating. The bodies of the victims shifted to the mortuary for postmortem examination.
