Manchester United have been handed a transfer update on midfielder Casemiro . The Brazilian is contracted to United until 2026 with the option of an additional year , but has struggled for much of the past 18 months and has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford . A move to Saudi Arabia has been heavily mooted in the past, but clubs in the Saudi Pro League passed on a potential move for him last year Casemiro's performances have improved in recent weeks, but at 33, the former Real Madrid star is approaching the end of his career. United would require a fee of £15million to sell him in the summer and avoid a loss under the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules, having bought him for £60m from Real in 2022. And journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specialises in transfers, has provided an update on the five-time Champions League winner. He claims in his latest newsletter for GiveMeSport that the former Brazil international could depart M16 this summer. "Yes, it’s still a possibility," Romano said. "If a good proposal for player and club arrives, he can still leave." Casemiro opened up on his future in March before United's 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal. He insisted at the time that nothing was decided about what came next for him. "Of course I want to play," Casemiro said. "But I always say - and these are my values - I respect the coach a lot, I respect the club. Every day I go to Carrington or Old Trafford I try to do my best. "If a player is on the bench and is happy, that player is not worth anything for any team. Of course I want to play, I want to have more minutes, but the coach is the one who makes the decisions, and I have a lot of respect for him and for the club. "It's too soon to talk about next season but, of course, I have another year of contract and then an option. We have important games and on Sunday we have Arsenal. It's too soon to talk about next season. "I'm here, I'm available, with total happiness, and I'm ready for the coach and the club. As everyone knows, I'm a big character for the club. As I said, every time I go to Carrington or Old Trafford I try to do my best. That's my biggest quality."
