Man United 'revise Marcus Rashford price-tag' as Aston Villa get transfer clarity
@Source: birminghammail.co.uk
Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly in discussions with Manchester United about completing a deal this summer transfer window for forward, and Aston Villa loanee, Marcus Rashford - and it'd be for a comparably modest price, too.
Rashford joined Villa on a loan basis in the January transfer window, for the remainder of the season, having needed to find a way out of Old Trafford where he'd been frozen out of the first-team picture by manager Ruben Amorim.
The forward, who has since been summoned back into the England fold by Thomas Tuchel since completing his temporary move to Villa Park, has scored four goals and produced six assists for the club in 17 appearances spanning three competitions - but it may be that he's played his last game for the club because of injury.
Villa have games coming against Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur on the horizon, and Rashford is in a race against time to be fit for either - because he can't feature against parent club United on the final day of the season. Rashford missed the defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup at the end of last month and then was absent for the win over Fulham on Saturday.
The forward has reportedly made it clear that he'd like to try his luck in Spain - as compatriot Trent Alexander-Arnold will be - with Barcelona, who are top of La Liga, have won the Copa del Rey and are in the semi-finals of the Champions League this week.
Sky Sport Switzerland report that Rashford is working with agent Pini Zahavi, who is friends with Barca president Joan Laporta, in order to reach an agreement, and they add that discussions over personal terms have already begun.
United are keen to sever ties with Rashford, who is on north of £320,000 a week and still has three years left on his Red Devils deal, on a permanent basis this summer and will, according to claims, accept an offer as low as £30m - having arranged for Villa to have the opportunity to sign Rashford this summer for nearer to £40m.
Barca may, though, have to move on players before they can meet that revised valuation of the player - there are suggestions that forwards Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha could leave the Camp Nou this summer.
