Man Utd given Victor Osimhen transfer 'green light' as Ruben Amorim eyes £67m Bundesliga star

Manchester United will be eager to pick up from where they left off after the international break. The Red Devils will soon lock horns with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground as Ruben Amorim looks to climb the Premier League table. United head into the clash off the back of a 3-0 win over Leicester City, meanwhile, Forest enjoyed a 4-2 victory against Ipswich Town. While Nuno Espirito Santo's side may fancy their chances, they have an FA Cup quarterfinal tie just days before they face the Red Devils. So, the extra couple of days on the training pitches could prove to be the difference. That being said, the Manchester Evening News have rounded up the latest United news and transfer gossip. 'United still keen on Bundesliga star' According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, United remain keen on signing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League on numerous occasions in the past, but a switch has never materialised. The report claims the Bundesliga outfit want €80m (£67m) for Simons, whose departure has been described as 'possible'. It's said that the Red Devils have been keeping tabs on Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike too, with Amorim eager to sign a new striker this summer. The Manchester Evening News says: "Xavi Simons would be a great signing for Manchester United. I think he'd do really well in one of the number ten roles under Ruben Amorim. If the Red Devils were to secure the RB Leipzig star's signature, they'd still need to follow up his arrival with a top striker and a few other signings." Conte wants United swap deal According to the Mirror, Napoli are ready to offer Victor Osimhen in exchange for Rasmus Hojlund as part of a swap deal with Manchester United. The Nigeria international was heavily linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea in the summer, but a switch collapsed so he joined Galatasaray on loan instead. Osimhen, who sees his contract at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium expire in June 2026, has featured 22 times in the Süper Lig this season, scoring 20 goals and providing four assists. Playing a key role in Okan Buruk's side, the 26-year-old has fired the Turkish giants to the top of the table – and they remain unbeaten. Meanwhile, Hojlund has really struggled to impress, scoring just three goals in 25 Premier League games. The Manchester Evening News says: "I can't imagine Napoli would be happy with a straight swap of Victor Osimhen for Rasmus Hojlund – they'll want some cash on top too. The Nigerian would be a class signing for Manchester United."
