Man Utd transfer news: Samu green light, Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap update
@Source: dailystar.co.uk
Manchester United are set for a busy summer transfer window with Ruben Amorim looking to overhaul the squad . The Red Devils are enduring their worst-ever Premier League campaign and Amorim’s appointment in November hasn’t done much to turn United’s fortunes around. Amorim will be on the hunt for signings that match his 3-4-2-1 system and top of the shopping list is a new striker with United scoring fewer goals than 17th placed Wolves so far this campaign, and the second lowest of any club in the top 14 of the table. Here, Daily Star Sport looks at the latest transfer news involving United and their search for a new focal point. Amorim looks intent on signing a striker in the summer transfer window and he and United know all about the damage that Porto forward Samu Aghehowa can deal. According to Caught Offside , United are going to attempt to sign the 20-year-old Spaniard, with Amorim said to like the player and has been given the green light by United to make a move for him. Samu has scored 21 goals in 35 games this season in all competitions, including a brace in the Europa League against United in October in a 3-3 draw at the Estadio do Dragao. United are long-time admirers of the Sporting Lisbon striker and learned last week that Gyokores’ services could be acquired in a deal between £50.2m-£58.2m, according to Sky Germany. However, The Athletic reports that Arsenal are eyeing up a move for Gyokeres with Mikel Arteta also in the market for a No.9 this summer. The Gunners’ new sporting director Andrea Berta has long been an admirer of Gyokeres and the striker is expected to figure prominently in their summer plans. Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has been making a major name for himself this season, with his 10 Premier League goals for a team looking doomed for relegation has caught the eye of top-flight clubs. According to TBR Football, Delap is open to joining any Premier League club in the summer with the 22-year-old one of the names at the top of United’s summer shopping list. However, it’s reported by East Anglian Daily Times that Ipswich chairman Mark Ashton said the club are “well protected” when it comes to Delap’s future, refusing to reveal if the striker has a release clause.
