Man Utd's five-man transfer wishlist after Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike decisions
@Source: mirror.co.uk
After finally completing the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford , Manchester United are now focusing their efforts on a new striker. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee managed just seven Premier League goals between them last season and Ruben Amorim is keen to bolster his attack. The additions of Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha will help, but Amorim wants a new striker to lead the line. United missed out on Liam Delap earlier this summer after he decided to join Chelsea in a £30million deal. According to a report from the Athletic , United were also interested in Viktor Gyokeres but he has made it clear he only wants to join Arsenal . It is claimed they also made a late attempt to sign Hugo Ekitike , but the striker had already decided to join Liverpool by that stage. Talks are said to have been held over RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko , Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins and Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson , but it is reported that each player's asking price means they are 'not currently being actively pursued'. Mirror Football understands that Amorim also wants to sign a new midfielder, having admitted it was an area of concern after United's 0-0 draw with Leeds United in a pre-season friendly last week. "It was a pre-season game," Amorim said. "The gaps between our sectors was sometimes too big. We have a lack of pace, especially in the middle of the park and you can feel it is hard to win and bring the ball. But we created chances." United have managed to raise extra funds due to sell-on clauses, with Alvaro Carreras, Anthony Elanga and Maxi Oyedele all joining new clubs this summer. The Red Devils have earned a percentage of each player's transfer fee, while Marcus Rashford's impending loan move will also help. Rashford is on the verge of joining Barcelona on loan with an option to buy and the La Liga giants have agreed to pay his £325,000-a-week wages in full . Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are also expected to leave this summer. Those four players have been place in the 'bomb squad' and are training away from the first-team after being informed that they are not part of Amorim's plans. Sancho, Antony and Malacia all spent time out on loan last season. Sancho spent the season at Chelsea but they opted not to sign him permanently, while Antony impressed at Real Betis and they are hoping to re-sign the Brazil international this summer. Malacia, meanwhile, struggled for regular game time at PSV Eindhoven. Join our new MAN UTD WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Manchester United content from Mirror Football.
