Players not registered will not play: Gende
Rugby League- By Jack Ami
ONLY registered players will be eligible to play in round four of the NCD Schools Rugby League competition this weekend.
This was the warning from the NCD Schools Rugby League board chairman Arnold Gende after a notice was issued for all concerned to comply to the requirements.
This is affective as of tomorrow.
Gende said all the schools’ management teams are aware of this and there is no reason why they have not met the deadline that lapsed on Thursday (yesterday).
He said several schools have not complied with player registration and as result will forfeited against in their respective matches, while the opposing team will earn free easy two competition points.
“As an affiliated league to the PNG Rugby Football League we have to adhere and comply as per the advice from the governing body.
“It’s very important that players are registered as part of the registration fee component is for medical insurance if athletes sustain major injuries during matches.
“We don’t want to take the risk and be responsible for unregistered players injuries or when there is a demand for compensation.
Gende said the PNGRFL will only be responsible for players that are fully registered. He strongly warned team managements to fill in only registered players this weekend.
The chairman said that they all should be mindful, honest and to avoid inconvenience during the games. Gende added that we are fortunate that the PNGRFL has secured TESTA Medical Centre to be the medics on the ground to attend to player injuries sustained during the competition.
