Manchester United move for £42.8m Europa League winner amid Andre Onana transfer call
@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Manchester United will make a move for Atalanta BC goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi if Andre Onana leaves Old Trafford this summer. That's according to Gianluca Di Marzio , who claims United have made contact with the 24-year-old's agent as Ruben Amorim's side continue their summer rebuld. The Reds have already completed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a deal worth £62.5m and could strengthen their goalkeeping department this summer. It's been another difficult campaign for Onana, who has recently been linked with a summer switch to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. The report claims United would make a move for the Italian goalkeeper, if Onana were to leave Old Trafford, though talks with the Serie A side have not yet taken place. It adds that Atalanta would not let Carnesecchi leave unless 'truly satisfactory' offers arrive, having played a key part in their recent success. The Italian number one signed for Atalanta under Gian Piero Gasperini in the summer of 2023 and has been a mainstay between the sticks since then. He's kept an impressive 28 clean sheets in 76 games and was part of the squad which won the Europa League in 2024. According to Italian outlet TuttoMercato, the Serie A club have set an asking price in the region of €50 million (£42.8m) for Carnesecchi's services. Manchester United are expected to revamp their goalkeeping department this summer given Onana's struggles with inconsistency. Atlay Bayindir, who has also struggled since arriving at the club, could depart, while Tom Heaton has just agreed new terms on a one-year deal. United have also been linked with a move for World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez, who appeared to wave farewell to the Villa Park faithful on the penultimate game of the season, with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma also tentatively linked with a move to Old Trafford. --- Here at The Manchester Evening News, we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
