Manchester United have finalised a deal to offer to Liam Delap after agreeing to the framework of a new contract for the Ipswich Town player, according to a report by ESPN. Sources claim that the Red Devils have left the ball in the striker’s court, awaiting his next move. Keen on having Delap on board, United have informed Ipswich they will meet the £30 million release clause in his contract if he signals his intention to move to Old Trafford. “The outline of personal terms have also been agreed with Delap’s representatives and the transfer could move quickly once the 22-year-old decides on his future,” said the ESPN report on Delap’s potential move to United from Ipswich. The report suggested Chelsea is another major club interested in signing the youngster, who previously played for Manchester City. Moving to Portman Road last summer in a deal worth up to £20 million, Delap scored 12 goals in 36 appearances during the Championship season, in a campaign that saw Ipswich relegated back to League One. Given the competition from rival clubs for Delap’s services, United are believed to be desperate for a quick transfer. Cunha is considered close to being locked in by the club as their first signing of the summer. Indications are that Cunha could join the Red Devils on a five-year contract, with the club likely to meet the £62.5m release clause in the Brazilian’s contract at Molineux. The new signings have been necessitated by the confirmed departures of Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans. United management are also looking to offload Jadon Sancho, Anthony and Marcus Rashford, the report said. Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford and Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace are two other players to have garnered interest from Old Trafford alongside Delap. In his young career, Delap has made 117 appearances for various clubs and scored 28 goals. It remains to be seen if he is released from his current contract with Ipswich, for whom the forward has contributed to multiple key wins.
