Former Rotherham United manager Steve Evans issued an update on Manchester United loanee Dan Gore last week, confirming he could be back in action in the not too distant future. Gore joined the League One side on loan in the latter stages of the January transfer window and suffered a foot injury ahead of making his full debut. After making his debut via the bench against Birmingham City, Gore was in line to make his first start for the club against Shrewsbury Town the following weekend. However, he had to pull out of the squad on the morning of the game after waking up with a foot complaint. Evans, who was sacked by the Millers last Sunday after a torrid run of results, confirmed Gore was going to be out for several weeks and he soon returned to United's Carrington training base for treatment. But ahead of being dismissed last weekend, Evans confirmed Gore was closing in on a return, admitting the United academy graduate is roughly a fortnight away from being available for selection. "Dan is running on the 'Ultra G' (anti-gravity treadmill) this week and is on the grass next week," Evans told the Advertiser last week. "The medical team at Man United want to give him a full week on the grass. If he clears that, he will be back with us. "He's probably two weeks away from being ready. It would be good to get the kid on the pitch and playing for us." Gore, 20, has had a torrid time with injuries over the last 12 months or so, with both of his first two loan spells of his career being plagued by injury issues. He joined Port Vale in January last year and was limited to just appearance after getting injured on his debut. Evans has been replaced by Matt Hamshaw as Rotherham boss, taking the reins until the end of the season, and he could issue an update on Gore's recovery ahead of his side's clash with Blackpool this Saturday. Hamshaw won his first game in charge on Tuesday night, leading the Millers to a 2-0 win over Northampton Town.
