The Maroons produced a famous comeback to win last year’s series despite dropping the opening game at home, with this year’s campaign to kick-off at Suncorp Stadium on May 1.
Superstar prop forward Shannon Mato and destructive centre Evania Isa’ako (née Pelite) will miss the series after they both announced recently that they were pregnant.
But that’s opened the door for Origin rookies Jasmine Peters, Georgia Hannaway, Hayley Maddick, Jada Ferguson, Rory Owen and Tavarna Papalii who have all earned their spots in the squad.
The Maroons have some of the best players in the world at their disposal, with Tamika Upton and Tarryn Aiken part of an all-star spine, while Julia Robinson is a try-scoring machine who will relish the space created by their quality forwards.
The team will go into camp on April 24, with the squad to be reduced to 18 on that day as well.
Game two of the series will be played at Allianz Stadium on May 15, with a potential decider in Newcastle two weeks later.
Queensland squad for game one
Tarryn Aiken, Ali Brigginshaw, Destiny Brill, Lauren Brown, Shenae Ciesiolka, Jessika Elliston, Jada Ferguson, Georgia Hannaway, Sophie Holyman, Keilee Joseph, Chelsea Lenarduzzi, Sienna Lofipo, Hayley Maddick, Rory Owen, Tavarna Papalii, Jasmine Peters, Julia Robinson, Romy Teitzel, Tamika Upton, Makenzie Weale
