Matt Baker has left fans stunned with details of his cheeky past. The TV presenter appeared on Sunday Brunch and the presenters asked their guests to guess which star had a secret past as a nightclub dancer. They all guessed singer Estelle, but to their amazement Matt raised his hand. "It was a 70s re-enactment group that used to tour nightclubs. I spent a lot of my life as a gymnast when I was younger and I ended up in this dance group doing backflips and somersaults!" The Blue Peter star said that he performed as a "70s bartender" and even sported women's clothing for the events. Matt Baker fans may not know that the star previously dreamed of pursuing a career in gymnastics. According to reports, he began as young as five-years-old and once won the title of North of England champion. Sadly, his sporting dream was stopped abruptly after a doctor diagnosed him with aneamia aged just 14-years-old, meaning that Matt was left exhausted which affected his training. Baker has previously confessed that if not for this, he would have gone into a gymnastics career and would have remained in the sporting field "all his life". The presenter has since gone on to have an extremely successful presenting career, but back in 2024 he was left giggling as baffled fans questioned one of his roles. Matt was chosen to cover the Paris Olympics and baffled fans questioned why. He spoke to TV Times and said: "It makes me laugh when people ask: 'Why is the guy from Countryfile commentating on gymnastics?!' I love the eclectic mix of things that I do and have done." Baker clearly still has a passion for sports and put himself up for Strictly Come Dancing in 2010. He was partnered with Aliona Vilani and wowed audiences with his moves.
