MCA Breaks Silence On Suryakumar Yadav Rumours; Confirms IND T20I Skipper 'Remains Committed' To Mumbai
@Source: news18.com
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) put an end to all rumours and announced that batter Suryakumar Yadav is set to represent Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, refuting claims of a switch to Goa for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season along with some of his teammates.
Yesterday, Yashaswi Jaiswal announced his switch to Goa from Mumbai due to alleged differences with senior players of the Ranji side.
Jaiswal’s shock move will see the left-handed 23-year-old play for Goa from the 2025-26 season where he could be appointed captain, though it remains to be seen how much time he would be able to give to the state side given the packed international calendar.
However, the official transfer will only happen when BCCI opens its inter-state transfer window.
Following Jaiswal’s move, reports came up stating that his Mumbai teammates, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma were also among names that the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) were eyeing for a ‘coup’ of the MCA ranks.
Suryakumar had, in fact, himself rubbished the report on his ‘X’ handle, lambasting those bandying all such talks around, while the MCA put out an official release stating that the Indian T20I skipper remains committed to their team.
“The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is aware of rumours circulating on social media regarding Surya Kumar Yadav’s alleged decision to move players to Goa instead of playing for Mumbai,” MCA secretary Abhay Hadap said in a statement.
“MCA officials have spoken with Surya this morning, and can confirm that these rumours are completely baseless and untrue. Surya Kumar Yadav remains committed for Mumbai and takes immense pride in playing for Mumbai.
“We urge everyone to refrain from spreading misinformation and to support our players as they continue to contribute to Mumbai Cricket Association,” Hadap said.
It can also be confirmed that reports of Tilak Varma, who plays for Hyderabad, switching to Goa, has been found to be untrue.
