Meghan Markle waffle outrage deepens as eagle-eyed fans share new theory

Meghan Markle has come under fire for a very surprising reason - and it was to do with her St Patrick's Day breakfast. The Duchess took to Instagram this week and shared a series of Stories showing her whipping up green-coloured waffles for her kids, Archie and Lilibet. Meghan started her string of clips showing her mixing green batter in a bowl before pouring it into a hot black cast-iron waffle maker and letting it cook. Meghan also shared a clip of a special green drink she made for the children with the caption, "We love a theme" - followed by a shamrock emoji. But eagle-eyed social media users were quick to point out an inconsistency with her Irish-inspired waffles. They noted that the finished treats Meghan showed off on her Instagram don't show the same pattern as the waffle maker she was using. Meghan's waffle maker has deep ridges so each waffle can be split into quarters. But royal fans spotted that her waffles had no ridges at all and were flat. It sparked a big debate on X - formerly Twitter - with people accusing Meghan of 'faking' her breakfast. But a number of fans were quick to come to her defence and offer an explanation, with one supporter suggesting she could have used two different irons, one to make waffles for the children, and another for her and Prince Harry . It was by no means the only talking point when it came to Meghan's waffles. Many believe they were made with a little help from the late Queen. Prince Harry, 40, previously revealed that his grandmother, who died in 2022, gifted their son Archie with a waffle maker when he was a toddler. During an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, the Duke of Sussex said, "My grandmother asked us what Archie wanted for Christmas , and Meg said a waffle maker. She sent us a waffle maker for Archie. So breakfast now, Meg makes up a beautiful organic mix in the waffle maker." Adding that his son, who was less than 2 years old at the time, "loves" the waffle maker, Harry said, "Archie wakes up in the morning and goes 'waffle.'" Meghan recently spoke to PEOPLE about her life at home in California, including her family's morning routine. "I'm up before my kids are, so I'm normally up at 6:30, and then I get them up and dressed for the day, and we go downstairs," she said. "I love making breakfast for my family." "My husband and Archie both love fried eggs," Meghan added. "There's a lot of bacon around here. And then sometimes you don't have time for all that, and you just put a frozen waffle in the toaster and call it a day. And there's no shame in that either."
