Nigerian players like Mikel Obi and Victor Moses were deemed not good enough to make the best Chelsea team in the last 120 years.
Former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi and Celestine Babayaro have been left out of Chelsea's best eleven in their 120 years of existence.
The Stamford Bridge club recently marked 120 years of existence and to celebrate the feat, a best eleven of past and present players that have represented the Blues was voted for by fans.
Nigeria's Mikel Obi joined Chelsea in the summer of 2006 after he had initially signed for Manchester United before making a dramatic U-turn.

Mikel would go on to play 11 seasons at the London club, winning the UEFA Champions League, English Premier League and the UEFA Europa League, thus cementing his legendary status at the club.
Celestine Babayaro on his part played for Chelsea when he joined for £2.25 million in 1997, a club record fee for a teenager at the time and was a regular down the left flank of Chelsea's defence. The Nigerian defender would later move to Newcastle in 2025, after 8 years at Stamford Bridge.
Another Super Eagles star who played for Chelsea was Victor Moses, after he joined from Wigan Athletics. The 2013 AFCON winner played an instrumental role in Chelsea during Antonio Conte's reign at the club, featuring mainly as a wingback.
Chelsea best XI in 120 years
Czech Republic veteran shot-stopper Petr Cech was rightly named the best goalkeeper. The 42-year-old holds the Premier League record for the most clean sheets (207), 35 more than his closest rival David James (172).
In all competitions for Chelsea, Cech recorded a staggering 228 clean sheets in 494 appearances for the Blues.
Cech won every title possible (both at domestic and European level) - 13 major honours in total during his eleven seasons at the Stamford Bridge club.
Defenders: Ashley Cole, John Terry, Thiago Silva, Azpilicueta
Arguably one of the greatest left-backs in football history, Ashley Cole was also rightly voted as part of the best 11 in Chelsea’s 120 years history.
The Englishman left Arsenal for London neighbours Chelsea in controversial circumstances in the summer of 2006.
John Terry is a man who needs no introduction. The former England captain led the Blues during the most successful period of the Stamford Bridge club.
The iconic defender, who started his journey at Chelsea at age 14, won 15 major trophies: Premier League (5) FA Cups (5), League Cups (5), Champions League (1), the Europa League (1).
However, the best night of Terry’s career in a Blues shirt came in 2012 when Chelsea lifted the UEFA Champions League for the first time, four years after the captain had the penalty kick that could have won Chelsea the title.
John Terry scored 67 goals in 717 Chelsea appearances for Chelsea.
Thiago Silva joined Chelsea when he was past his prime but the Brazilian rolled back the years to put in a solid shift during his four-year stint at the London club.
Despite his illustrious career, Thiago Silva never managed to win the UEFA Champions League but within a year of joining, he finally laid his hands on the elusive title.
Cesar Azpilicueta joined Chelsea in 2012, and would go on to cement his legendary status for the Blues after joining from Marseille.
Dependable and reliable Azpilicueta could be trusted to play anywhere in defence and would rack up 508 games under his belt, climbing up to sixth on the club’s all-time appearance log.
Midfielders: Frank Lampard, Claude Makelele, Ngolo Kante
English midfield maestro, frank Lampard and Frenchmen Ngolo Kante and Calude Makelele make up the midfield trio voted by Blues fans.
Ghanaian midfield powerhouse Michael Essien, Nigeria’s Mikel Obi and German legend Michael Ballack all miss out on the selection, despite having decent spells at the club.
Forwards: Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba, Franco Zola
Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard, Ivory Coast talisman Didier Drogb and arguably Chelsea’s best-ever player Gianfranco Zola complete a formidable strike force for the Blues best-ever players in the last 120 years.
