Mini-golf, Easter egg hunt, special theme nights: Promotions, giveaways at Cleveland-area ballparks in April

CLEVELAND, Ohio – We kick off our annual ballpark roundup highlighting a handful of giveaways and promotions at area baseball parks. From fireworks to theme nights, here are a baker’s dozen promos in Cleveland, Akron and Lake County to check out in April (at the bottom you’ll find team info on addresses, parking and more): AKRON: Opening Night A lot going on at the ol’ ballpark. Main Street Festival – a family-friendly gathering outside the gates on Main Street – will feature inflatables and activities starting at 4:30 p.m. It’s Tall Boy Tuesday, so fans can get $1 discounts on Anheuser-Busch Tall Boys. A magnet schedule giveaway is set for the first 2,500 fans. And fireworks will mark the city’s bicentennial. Info: 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, vs. Altoona Curve. LAKE COUNTY: Opening Day Celebrate the 2024 Midwest League Champion Captains. A free nine-hole mini golf will be set up. Info: 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, vs. West Michigan Whitecaps. AKRON: That’s So Ohio Night It’s a celebration of the Buckeye state at the ballpark. Also: Paws & Claws means you can bring your pooch and get discounts on White Claw (dogs get in free). Wellness Wednesday is back, promoting healthy lifestyles. And Summit County Reading Night means folks who were smart enough to crack open and read a book through the ‘Quack Open a Book and Read” program receive a free ticket and can participate in a pre-game parade. Info: 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, vs. Altoona Curve. LAKE COUNTY: Chili Cook-Off Fans can sample the best chili around and vote for your favorite. Info: 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, vs. West Michigan Whitecaps. AKRON: Easter Egg Hunt Sunday Family FUNday allows for a pre-game catch on the field, plus post-game run the bases is offered for kids 12 and under. Students in Tuscarawas and Wayne counties who completed the “Quack Open a Book and Read” program will receive a complimentary ticket. A postgame Easter egg hunt on the field also is scheduled. (Easter is Sunday, April 20.) Info: 1:05 p.m. Sunday, April 13, vs. Altoona Curve. AKRON: “I’m a Sucker for QuAkron” The Akron Bicentennial Series continues on T-shirt Tuesday. The first 1,000 fans will receive a “I’m a sucker for QuAkron” t-shirt while honoring Dum Dums, the lollipop created by the Akron Candy Co. in 1924. It’s also ASL Community Night as the team welcomes the American Sign Language community to Canal Park with inclusive experiences. Tall Boy Tuesday offers $1 discounts off Anheuser-Busch Tall Boys. Stark County Reading Night means students in Stark County who completed the “Quack Open a Book and Read” program get a free ticket for finishing the program and can take part in a pre-game parade. Info: 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, vs. Richmond Flying Squirrels. CLEVELAND: Bark in the Park Bring your pooch! Bark in the Park is scheduled. (Note: It requires a theme-night ticket. Go to mlb.com/guardians/tickets/theme-nights.) Info: 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, vs. New York Yankees. AKRON: Broadway at the Ballpark The Ducks partner with Playhouse Square, and the ballpark will feature favorite Broadway shows plus contests and more. Paws & Claws means dogs are welcome at the park, White Claws are discounted and dogs get in free. It’s Wellness Wednesday as well as Portage County Reading Night so students in Portage County who completed the “Quack Open a Book and Read” program will receive a free ticket for finishing the program and can join a pre-game parade. Info: 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, vs. Richmond Flying Squirrels. LAKE COUNTY: Game Show Night From trivia to wacky challenges, you could be the next contestant to win big prizes. Also, free nine-hole mini golf will be available. Info: 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, vs. Great Lakes Loons. AKRON: Cleveland Basketball Night Celebrate Cleveland hoops at the ballpark. Thirsty Thursday offers $2 beer and Coca-Cola products. Info: 6:35 p.m. Thursday, April 24, vs. Richmond Flying Squirrels. AKRON: Richmond Flying Squirrels The giveaway on Teacher Appreciation Night is RubberDucks belt bags. Fireworks will cap the night. Info: 6:05 p.m. Saturday, April 26, vs. Richmond Flying Squirrels. CLEVELAND: Golf Night Join fellow golf enthusiasts at the stadium. The giveaway is a plush golf club cover featuring Guardians mascot Slider. (Note: It requires a theme-night ticket. CLEVELAND: Star Wars Night The Guardians say, “May the Force be with you.” A limited-edition Star Wars beanie will be given away on theme night. (Note: It requires a theme-night ticket.
