Missing X Factor star Levi Davis's mother has made an emotional plea for help after he was drug raped before disappearing two years ago. Levi vanished on October 29, 2022, after he ran out of money on a trip to Barcelona and his mother Julie has now claimed 'police have forgotten about him'. The X Factor: Celebrity star, aged 24 at the time of his disappearance, was last seen on CCTV leaving The Old Irish Pub on La Rambla after travelling to the city from Ibiza with just £35 in his pocket. Julie, 53, has since joined the Mirror's Missed campaign and told the newspaper: 'It feels worse than a bereavement. When someone's missing, you are constantly grieving. But I will never give up hope of finding Levi alive'. The mother, from Solihull, West Midlands, was last contacted by her son when he told her he had run out of money and needed £30 for a hotel. But she hasn't heard from him since. But Julie, desperate for answers about Levi's whereabouts, is haunted by fears that a 'traumatic ordeal' he previously faced may be linked to his disappearance. The sports star had faced abuse for his sexual orientation and was reportedly recorded being raped. Four days before he vanished, the music lover recorded a 15-minute Instagram post in which he said he was a victim of drug rape, death threats, and a long campaign of blackmail. 'My name is Levi Davis,' he told his 19,000 followers. 'And my life is in danger'. A day later he deleted the video from public view, and three days after, he was missing. Julie told the Daily Star: 'The blackmail video was a while before he went missing - around the time of X Factor. I think he innocently got drawn into something.' She was made aware of the horror incident after her eldest son shared that his brother had given him a chilling insight: 'Levi had confided in Nathan that he had been drug raped and photographs had been taken and he was being blackmailed.' Julie said he was told things would be done to his family if he didn't pay. Levi, who played as a winger for Bath and appeared on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019 as part of the group Try Star, with fellow players, Thom Evans and Ben Foden, then went travelling after a serious knee injury left him unable to play rugby. Julie told The Mirror: 'He'd been in Ibiza for a couple of weeks to work on music, and he said he planned to stay at a hotel in Barcelona overnight before going to his next destination, which was left open. But he had run out of funding'. The last known contact from him was after midnight on October 29, 2022, when he sent a WhatsApp voice message to his friend. There has been no activity from his phone or bank account since. The morning after Levi disappeared, passengers on a cruise ship close to Barcelona's port reported seeing a man in the water. A search was launched and later called off when no-one from the boat was found to be missing. Levi's passport was found at the port a few weeks later. Police in Barcelona confirmed they were investigating the possibility Levi had drowned. A search was launched, but the investigation quickly came to a standstill. Julie has now grown skeptical about the police investigation into her son's disappearance, saying: 'They left so many questions unanswered. They said his phone last pinged by an underground station near to the port. What was he doing there at half past six in the morning?' She was informed by authorities that her concerns would be addressed in a report, but upon its release she needed to have the 250-page document translated as 'half of it was in Spanish and half in Catalan'. The grieving mother has now had to resort to crowdfunding in an attempt to find a solicitor after being told that if she wants to push the investigation further she will have to do it through legal routes. 'The cheapest one we've been quoted is £5k, and this is for preliminary work. As far as the UK police are concerned, we've just been totally forgotten,' Julie said. But this is not the first time Levi's mother has criticised Catalan police, as in 2023 she said she 'doesn't know what to believe anymore' and claimed she was given 'very limited feedback' to her questions about her missing son. West Midlands Police said in a statement: 'The investigation is being run by the Spanish authorities, and we are supporting it when required. 'Our thoughts remain with Levi's family and we will continue to provide them with any updates from the Spanish authorities as their investigation continues.
