Misting, water refill stations installed in multiple North Kamloops locations (Kamloops)

Misting and water bottle refilling stations have been installed in places around the city to help Kamloops residents beat the heat through the remaining summer days.
“With heat events becoming more frequent, this investment helps ensure Kamloops is prepared — and staying cool in the process,” said Glen Cheetham, the city’s climate and sustainability manager, in a statement.
The City of Kamloops said two newly-installed water bottle refill stations are available on McArthur Island Park, one near the mini golf course and another at the centre concession building.
Misting stations have been installed at the North Shore Transit Exchange and on McArthur Island Park near the skateboard park and beside the soccer fields.
Earlier this year, council approved the installation of the new public cooling amenities using funding made available through a provincial government climate action program.
According to the City of Kamloops, the locations were chosen based on a combination of factors, including access to city water connections, heat vulnerability statistics and high traffic areas.
