Mitchell Marsh Creates History, Becomes 1st Australian Cricketer To...
@Source: news18.com
Mitchell Marsh is the captain of Australia’s T20I team, and on Sunday (August 10), he is also playing as an opener for the Aussies against South Africa. In the first T20I of the three-match series taking place at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin, the 33-year-old right-handed batter opened his account by hitting Lungi Ngidi for a six. The six off Ngidi’s bowling on the first ball of the match on Sunday helped Marsh enter his name in the history books.
He became the first cricketer from Australia to hit six on the first ball of a T20I match. Former Australian captain and opener Aaron Finch also smacked a six on the first ball of a T20I for Australia, but he achieved the feat during a run chase.

After opening his account with six, Marsh scored a four on the second legal ball of the match to make a rocking start, but he was not able to play a big knock. The 33-year-old was sent back to the pavilion by Kagiso Rabada.
On the first ball of the fourth over of the match, Marsh tried to play a big shot, but he failed to connect with the ball properly and was caught by Kwena Maphaka.
Marsh was the third Aussie batter to get out on Sunday. Before him, Rabada dismissed Travis Head on the last ball of the second over, and George Linde removed Josh Inglis for a golden duck on the second ball of the third over of the match.
SA opt to bowl first
In the first T20I, South African captain Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Aussies have won all five T20Is played against the West Indies team in the Caribbean islands last month, whereas the Proteas suffered three defeats against New Zealand in the T20I tri-series played in Harare from July 14 to 26.
