With planning well underway for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the possibility of MLB players taking part in the games for their respective home countries is increasingly becoming more likely. There are plenty of logistics still to iron out, but the possibility should make fans around the globe excited. League officials, including Commissioner Rob Manfred, met with LA28 organizers on Monday in Atlanta, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. The next step will be to include officials from the MLB Players Association. MLBPA executive director Tony Clark sounded optimistic about the possibility during a Q&A session with the Baseball Writers Association of America members on Tuesday before the All-Star Game: "We do know players are interested in playing, whether it's for Team USA or for any number of other teams around the world. We've got the WBC, which players are telling us they're interested in playing in, as well. There's just a lot of conversations that need to be had sooner rather than later to see how viable this is, but we're hopeful that we can figure out a way to do it." With Olympic events being scheduled across the Los Angeles area (the Games run from July 14-30, 2028), organizers announced on Tuesday that the baseball games would be held at Dodger Stadium. They have been tentatively scheduled for July 15-20.
