MLS: Lionel Messi Brace Helps Inter Miami Edge Out New England Revolution

Argentine World Cup-winner Lionel Messi netted a brace on Thursday to help MLS side Inter Miami register a 2-1 win over New England Revolution at the Gillette Stadium. Messi opened the scoring in the 27th minute of the game, before helping his side go two goals ahead in the 38th minute. Carles Gill’s late strike reduced New England’s arrears, but ultimately proved nothing more than a consolation. The Argentine’s run continued as he resumed MLS duty following the side’s showing at the revamped edition of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 with a brace against Montreal yet again in Miami’s 4-1 triumph before his performance against New England on Thursday.
