THE MOROBE Country Rugby League (MCRL) will get their season underway later this month.
MCRL president Roy Miringke also affirmed that they also have the support of the office of the Morobe provincial member Luther Wenge and three interested corporate sponsors.
Miringke said the provincial member is a die-hard rugby league supporter that is passionate about supporting development potential in the Morobe district, via the MCRLA pathway.
He further highlighted that the provincial member has made a commitment to invest K50,000 each year beginning 2025 season until 2027.
This will also include the re-development of the James Khay oval along Buimo Road.
There 12 teams that will have teams in the A-Grade, U-20 men and senior women’s grade.
The composition of teams will see three each from Nawaeb and Huon Gulf and six from Lae city.
Miringke said an apology letter was also submitted to PNGRFL Northern Confederate management for a misunderstanding to ensure a amicable relationship is maintained.
All clubs are required to pay an affiliation of K1000 for each team and a K20 player registration.
“All club officials must have all affiliation payment receipts to confirm their participation by next Thursday,” Miringke added.
He further said there is a plan in place to develop the James Khay oval, of which a working committee under the guidance of former Bomber and Kumul, Andrew Kuno has been established to putting the puzzle together with an estimated investment cost of K1.5 million.
