My Heart Is With RCB: AB de Villiers Open To Making His Return To IPL 2025 Champions

AB de Villiers is open to making his return to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a different role. The former RCB batsman had a long 11-year stint with them. He joined RCB in 2011 and played for them till 2021. He announced his retirement from professional cricket after IPL 2021. De Villiers has been to India after his retirement for commentary duties. He was also present in India for IPL 2025 final and celebrated with RCB after they won the title. Speaking to IANS, De Villiers said: "I might be involved with the IPL again in the future in a different role, but committing to a full season in a professional capacity is really tricky, and I believe those days are done. That said, you never say never. My heart is with RCB and always will be. So, if the franchise feels there's a role for me (as a coach or mentor), when my time is right and ready, it will definitely be RCB." It will be interesting to see if he decides to start his coaching journey with the Bengaluru-based franchise. Apart from doing commentary, De Villiers also runs a YouTube channel. AB de Villiers record for RCB AB de Villiers scored 4491 runs for RCB in IPL. He is their second-highest run-scorer. De Villiers' tally includes 2 centuries and 37 half-centuries. Batting with a strike rate of 158.63, De Villiers smashed 238 sixes and 362 fours. Before joining RCB, he played for Delhi Capitals (then known as Delhi Daredevils) for three seasons. He scored a century for them. De Villiers retired from international cricket in May 2018. He finished his career with 114 Test, 228 ODI and and 78 T20I caps. He averaged above 50 in Test and ODI
