Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has urged all to make a grand success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the capital, Amaravati, on May 2, Friday. The PM would formally launch the resumption of the capital’s developmental works.Naidu on Monday held a teleconference with top leaders from the Telugu Desam, Jana Sena and BJP to explain to them the arrangements for the PM visit. Capital Amaravati, he said, is a symbol of pride for Telugu people and called upon the alliance leaders to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the general public arriving for the public meeting. Naidu said he adopted the concept of decentralisation of development since 2014 and set up several prestigious educational institutions in north Andhra, coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions. He vowed to develop all regions in equal measure.Referring to how capital cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai earned nearly 70 per cent of their states’ revenues, the CM said it was important that AP too has a good capital city.Appreciating the farmers for offering lands for construction of the capital city, the CM said, “We are providing residential and commercial plots to the farmers after developing them, apart from construction of the capital city. The farmers are to be partners in building Amaravati.”He sounded confident of getting industries to provide employment to the youth and to strengthen the state’s economy once the roads are built and the transport network is strengthened. On poll promises, Naidu asserted that the government was fulfilling these in the last 10 months, vis-à-vis the release of funds for the Polavaram irrigation project and release of Rs 11,400 crore to Visakha Steel Plant. We are also coming up with plans to attract industries and generate employment to the youth, as also for welfare of fishermen, SC categorisation, setting up Anna Canteens, providing three domestic gas refills, release of DSC notification for 16,347 teacher posts and to extend financial support under the Annadata scheme.Naidu vowed to set up industrial parks in 42 assembly segments soon and more such parks to cover all 175 assembly segments to achieve the target of ‘One Family-One Entrepreneur’. A steel plant in Rayalaseema would be built in addition to developing Visakhapatnam as the financial capital for AP, alongside Tirupati as the spiritual city.“We are also helping the ArcelorMittal steel majors to set up two steel plants with an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in Anakapalli. The Rayalaseema region would be developed in sectors like defence, electronics, automobiles, drones, satellite launching and green energy in addition to having national highway connectivity from Bengaluru and Hyderabad and airports in order to make Rayalaseema a logistic hub,” the CM claimed.
