@Source: asaaseradio.com
A scientific survey conducted by the CK Analytics Team on the upcoming Ghana School of Law (GSL) Students Representative Council (SRC) elections has identified Nana Opoku Ware (NOW) as the preferred candidate for SRC president among the five contestants. The survey (2nd edition) sampled about 309 respondents, which represented 12 percent of the voter population. It was carried out from Monday, 14th, to Wednesday, 16th April 2025, and the sample size was taken from all four campuses of the Ghana School of Law: Accra Main, UPSA, Greenhill, and Kumasi, KNUST. “The result of this month’s survey (14 to 16 April) shows that Nana Opoku Ware has crashed the commanding lead of Festus Matey, in the first edition of the CK Analytics survey, while Obiri-Adjei Michael and Benjamin Offei-Addo have gained significant grounds as well, with Emmanuella Tetteh-Ashong, who joined late, not doing badly. “Overall, 26% of respondents indicated that they are likely to vote for Nana Opoku Ware. Festus Matey had 22%, Obiri-Adjei Michael had 15%, Benjamin Offei-Addo, had 12%, and Emmanuella Tetteh-Ashong had 6%. “However, a significant number of respondents (28%) chose ‘None’, which is similar to the number of respondents (30%) who indicated that they may not vote at all,” the survey findings read. “Therefore, if those who selected “None” are excluded from the results, this is how things will look: first, Nana Opoku Ware – 32%, second, Festus Matey – 27%, third, Obiri-Adjei Michael – 18%, fourth, Benjamin Offei-Addo – 15%, and fifth, Emmanuella Tetteh-Ashong – 8%. “Nana Opoku Ware is likely to win UPSA (31%) and KNUST (62%), while Festus Matey is likely to win Makola Main (38%) and GIMPA (38%),” the survey results further indicated. Other executive positions The findings of the CK Analytics survey also showed that the following aspirants are likely to secure seats on the next SRC Executive Council. For the treasurer position, Jackson Bright Kitanya-Dabanyi is tipped to win with about 63% of the vote. The Organiser role is likely to go to Gloria Agbele, who may secure about 74% of the votes to be cast, and for the General Secretary position, Nana Aba Kwesenuwa Odoom, is on course to secure about 91% “Yes Votes” to give her a historic win. Vice presidential race For the role of Vice President, KNUST, Samuel Addai is likely to poll 79% of the votes to be cast, Vice President for UPSA, Maame Ekua Otenewa Oduro (55%), Vice President, GIMPA, Hariratah Ibrahim Doudu (54%). The Vice-Presidential race at Makola Main promises to be very competitive as Janelle Nhyira Amo Frimpomaa polled 38%, Ruby Charlene Opoku secured 32%, and Don Emmanuel Agbanyo polled 22%, leaving the race very open. Gender balance If the CK Analytics survey is anything to go by, it suggests that the majority of the 2025/2026 Executive Council of the GSL SRC (5 out of 8 positions) will be female, representing 63%, as compared to only one female in the 2024/2025 Executive Council. Profile of Nana Ware Nana Opoku Ware is an aspiring leader and student advocate at the Ghana School of Law. His story is as compelling as his vision for the future of legal education and leadership in Ghana. Driven by a resolute belief that “Leadership is not a position, but a duty to serve”, Nana Opoku has earned a reputation among his peers as a proactive, forward-thinking, and people-centered leader. With an academic foundation built at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Nana has gained hands-on legal training under 12 King’s Bench Walk in the United Kingdom and AB & David Africa in Kumasi- two prestigious institutions that shaped his global legal outlook and refined his competencies in advocacy, litigation, and legal research. But Nana Opoku’s vision goes far beyond his growth. His leadership philosophy is centered on community upliftment, peer empowerment, and sustainable innovation. As a student leader and founder of the N.O.W Foundation, Nana has pioneered impactful initiatives ranging from scholarship programs for underprivileged students to clean water accessibility projects in underserved communities like Ejisu and the Lake Bosomtwe Community. At the Ghana School of Law, Nana has already taken bold steps even before officially assuming any office. He fixed broken furniture in lecture halls and initiated the rollout of Starlink internet connectivity across all campuses, thereby resolving longstanding challenges of accessibility and digital lag. These actions speak to his commitment to practical solutions and swift results. Nana’s policy vision focuses on seven key areas, which together present a practical and student-centered roadmap. He aims to blend legal education with entrepreneurial development, helping students build relevant business and legal skills through targeted workshops and clinics. His “One Campus, One Bus” policy proposes reliable campus-specific transportation to ease mobility challenges. To promote student well-being, he advocates for on-campus health bays and partnerships with mental health providers. Digitally, he wants to expand the Starlink project and integrate legal tech tools like TrusturAI, Judy Legal, and Dennis Law into academic life. He envisions linking students to global legal opportunities through mentorship platforms and international exchange programs. He also plans to partner with the Ghana Publishing Company to make essential law books more affordable, while pushing for stronger advocacy in welfare, including permanent campus selection, improved classroom infrastructure, and a student suggestion desk to foster transparency and feedback. Will “NOW” actually win? Nana Opoku Ware’s policies are rooted in feasibility and backed by student insights from all campuses. With his strong values, proven commitment, and rising popularity, Nana Opoku Ware has positioned himself as a frontrunner in the SRC Presidential race. However, with a competitive field and voter indecision still lingering, the key question remains: Can Nana Opoku Ware translate this momentum into a clear and convincing win at the 29 and 30 April 2025 polls? Your guess is as good as mine. Asaase Broadcasting Company airs on Asaase 99.5 Accra, Asaase 98.5 Kumasi, Asaase 99.7 Tamale, Asaase 100.3 Cape Coast, AsaasePa 107.3 (Accra).
